One of my goals is to contribute to the i2p community. I have made monetary donations, but I also wanted to contribute value added software services to the i2p community. To do this, I needed to assemble a development platform that I could use to deliver value-added services in an efficient and effective manner.
I wanted to assemble a web development platform for the i2p community that I could package as a virtual appliance so that others could quickly obtain and begin building web-based solutions within the i2p network.
To start off, I looked at a development platform that has a proven record of success on the internet. I focused in on the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, Php) stack. I created a virtual machine (using VMware technology) and built a LAMP virtual appliance for i2p development efforts.
Once I had assembled and tested the development platform, I then created an Open Virtualization Format (OVF) package which is a platform independent, efficient, extensible, and open packaging and distribution format for virtual machines. I created documentation for the package and I will make it available as a free download here on this eepsite. This will allow software developers to quickly deploy a virtual machine development environment for i2p value-added software services.
I focused on an i2p enabled LAMP stack to position the software code on the server-side, purposefully staying away from client-side code like javascript since client-side code is not suitable to the goal of anonymity. I would appreciate review and feedback. If you find any security, privacy, anonymous, type vulnerabilities please let me know and I will work them out of the package. I will treat this as an open project and hopefully we will generate a community to promote continuous improvement over time.
